Oddly enough, for a room that we use every day, bathrooms are often the smallest room in the house. Tearing down a wall and creating a larger bathroom is not an option for many, and as new homes get smaller, this situation will only get worse.
To help you overcome this situation, I have put together a list of 4 simple ways to maximize space in a small bathroom:
1.Consider your bathroom decor carefully:
Starting with aesthetics, choosing the right color for your walls is critical to any renovation project. If you choose the wrong color, your bathroom will look like a closet, but if you choose the right color, your bathroom will look spacious.
While dark colors are currently fashionable, this will only aggravate the size problem if your bathroom doesn't attract natural light. Instead, choose bright colors, e.g. B. Pastel colors that create the feeling of space and make your small bathroom appear spacious.
If the thought of bright colors creates images of a sterile environment and you absolutely want to bring some liveliness into your bathroom, then do so with furniture or linen.
2. Use mirrors effectively:
Since they naturally reflect light, mirrors are a great tool to create the illusion of space. To take full advantage of this, place a mirror next to your window to maximize sun exposure.
However, if you add too many mirrors, you will end up looking ridiculous. So be careful. To counteract this, introduce metal or glass tiles that can reflect sunlight.
3. Remember: storage is key
The key to maximizing space is to keep your bathroom as clear as possible: when you push a number of items onto an available surface, your bathroom looks incredibly small. For this reason, you should invest in certain storage baskets or purchase stylish cabinets to store all of your toiletries.
Wicker baskets are often very cheap, look stylish, and complement virtually any decor. Although they hold the toiletries neatly together, baskets often have to sit on their side, which can look unsightly. Cupboards, on the other hand, are a more neat solution, since toiletries can be placed inside and protected from prying eyes.
A good little trick is to have closets because they don't take up space and the surfaces remain free.
4. Choose your furniture wisely
This brings me to the last and most drastic part of the manual: installing the right equipment to maximize space.
- Wall furniture such as wall sinks and toilets are essential in bathrooms with little space. They hang elegantly on the wall and, because they are not on a large plinth or frame, offer full access to your bathroom floor.
- If you need doors, always choose sliding doors, as you don't have to reserve valuable space for opening the door. The most obvious choice is a sliding door, but of course this also applies to your main bathroom door.
- For a quirky space-saving alternative, consider corner furniture, as it fills the gap that would otherwise have been left unused. While a corner bathroom can take up a lot of space, this does not apply to corner sinks and toilets, which will prove to be a major investment.
- Another good trick is to choose narrow cabinets with a high ledge. The slim width, coupled with the high design, directs the view away from the floor and towards the ceiling. This in turn will distract attention from the limited space available.
With a few simple adjustments, you can maximize space in every small bathroom.
